  1. This safe room feels a little less safe than it’s supposed to be. Also rather larger than I expected.

    1. I’m starting to wonder if this is all brought to you by Dr Who.

      1. I feel more like The Master, or The Rani!

  2. They figured out how to make it go!

    1. And I think it’s safe to say they’re out of the basement now.

  3. And we’ll ride on down/In through this Tunnel of Love!

  4. Thank you for the Thanksgiving Gift!
Just love this webcomic; got hooked on it from Nodwick, & IMO, this is the best one, of the ones you’re currently doing.
(It’s an even tie between PS238 & Nodwick.)

  5. Thank you. This was great. I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.

  6. That’s an Orange Lantern she’s holding, but not the Lantern of Avarice.

    1. I think it’s the original, Golden Age Green Lantern’s brass lantern! The store likes its references really old school…

      1. Since that was also green, I suspect that’s some other magical type of lantern. Possibly one that makes light.

  7. Ahaha. Perfect.
But now our intrepid terranauts face the real challenge: resist making a silly joke upon emerging from this contraption.

  8. Why does it have a Porta Potty? Couldn’ they have fitted the place out with a real toilet?

    1. As mentioned below, a porta potty doesn’t require connections to the outside world.

Ok, technically, a toilet doesn’t either. For several years while I was growing up, at least one of the toilets in the house lacked such connections at any point in time, though which toilet(s) were so configured changed over the course of that time. That said, normal toilets without external connections do not perform their function particularly well.

  9. This safe room was brought to you by Vault-Tec.

    1. OOOh, I get that now. (I hadn’t played any of the “Fallout” games until I found “Fallout 76” on the Xbox.

  10. Has this gone hiatsu or something, mon-wed-fri schedule does not seem to hold

  11. I wish this comics schedule would up from “random once a month” to more stable

    1. Be careful what you wish for. No update in over a year is certainly “more stable.”

  12. Why is there a porta-potty in the safe room? I just noticed that.

    1. Never mind, I figured it out, the porta-potty doesn’t need connections with the outside world and can be pumped out after the emergency is over.

      1. Then why does the door have a window.
A Tardis would have been in the vehicle’s room so I’m not sure what this is.
Might be an emergency exit, who knows where it leads.

        1. It’s the service sign for the people who pump it out, but blanked out for the cartoon.

    2. I guess for the same reason here are crates. Beyond the necessary basics like the door the safe room is improvised, not properly set up (at least, not yet). They are still new in this town.

  13. Frame 2 and 3: Is it just me, or does the “bottom” of her nose look like a second mouth?

    1. Now that you mention it… I see a Mario moustache instead…

    2. she has a slightly pug nose, with a shadow at the end. The bend looks a little like an end, the shadowed end looks like a mouth/ mustache.

  14. Gotta be gnomes.

  15. Finally caught up, I dropped off reading a while back

  16. Huh. Right now both ffm nodwick com and www useswordonmonster com show

Forbidden – Users from your country are not permitted to browse this site.

while comic nodwick com shows a blank page.
Do they have a webmaster more focused on LARP of Ⓦith Ⓗer™ or Ⓢupport Ⓒurrent Ⓣhing™ than silly things like site visits or having the job done in general?

    1. Are you using an ad blocker on your web browser? I know that whoever does the pop-up ads here tends to play rough on visitors.

      1. That’s not what it says…
The result is the same with adblock turned off completely, anyway.

    2. That be DNS blocking; try using VPN to go around it, generally safest picks to bypass block is american vpn server; 2nd most stable is any european VPN server

      1. DNS Blocking that… mysteriously appears only for a few associated hosts, yet is done by NS in different countries exactly alike?
Also, that somehow produces different results with HTTPS and HTTP on the same host (while it’s cached, at that) even with scripts blocked globally?
Occam’s trusty razor suggests the obvious.

  17. So the last update was 11/2022, is everything okay, or is this now a discontinued webcomic?

  18. We seem to be at an end here.
    Hiatus?

  19. I am beginning to despair of the ever being resolved!

  20. Has something happened to Aaron?

  21. If this story is abandoned, fine, but please post a note to let all of us that have been waiting for this to end since 2016 know about it. You’re down to 2-3 pages a year if that. Honestly I’d prefer going back to the old Black and White pages if it meant actual updates as those were the best parts of this story. I miss 84 and others at the school.

  22. Man, over six months since the last page for this. Not going to live to see this storyline finish, much less the kids reach high school.

  23. I’m hoping he’s storing up pages, but I don’t think so.

    1. No I don’t think he’s building a buffer, either

  24. It’s been six months since you looked at this
Cocked your head to the side and said, “it ain’t paying”
    Five weeks since we commented
Saying, “Get that together, come back and see me”
Three days since we checked back in
I realized it’s all same, but couldn’t tell you
    Yesterday, you’d ignored us
But it’ll still be two months till you update the story….

    1. Whoo, nice reference there.

  25. Chickity Nodwick the Nodwick chicken
You have a frontal nerdity and your brain stops tickin’
Watchin’ 238 with no lights on
    We’re sans an update
I hope Von Fogg’s in this one
    Like Suzi I’m getting frantic
    Like I’m tantric
Like a ween chip, guaranteed to mollify
Like Morpheus, I make mad films
    ‘Kay, I don’t make films
But if I did they’d have an Alien
Gonna get a set a’ better powers
Gonna find the kind that can go on for hours
Just so my plots aren’t always falling off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with the Shadow Moon
‘Cause this cartoon has got the boom and the gamma rays
That make me stick around for the long term

It’s been six months since you looked at this

  26. I was just thinking he should update the front page. PS238 hasn’t updated in six months and Nodwick hasn’t updated in 10 years, but both are listed on the front as updating Mon-Wed-Fri. I don’t mind the wait (ok, I do, but Aaron doesn’t owe me anything), but at least make the front page accurate.

    1. At least Nodwick had an end.

  27. Is Aaron Williams OK?
Does anyone know how\what he is doing these days??

    1. Click on Full Frontal Nerdity and you can see a comic of his that gets updated regularly.

      1. Well, I appreciate the SOMETHING’S getting updated. And I think the “nerd gamer possessed by REAL cursed object” is kind of metal. I just wish he’d alternate the updates between FFN and here.

    2. Hey Aaron – our mutual friends Nick Post and Bob Brynildson would be disappointed in your output this year…

    3. I took a look at Aaron’s Patreon page. Turns out he has an online store at drivethrucomics.com where paperback collections of PS238 and Nodwick are available, and the “About” page in his Patreon says this:

“The basics, however, are just to keep this cartoonist and his household afloat. I want to return to the halcyon days of regular publication, and I’m on my way to my next Ps238 trade (with a little eventual help from Kickstarter), but in the meantime, I’m hoping the current and future readers of my work will help to give me a boost. If not, I still hope you enjoy the comics and come back by every so often to see what else I’ve got in store.”

It also notes that the monthly Patreon pledges are for a total of $634.80 per month…

So it appears that Aaron’s having to spend too much time at a day job to keep updating the comics here, and probably the best way to get more updates is to support him by (a) joining his Patreon, and/or (b) purchasing some of the collections from his store. Sadly, I don’t have enough income myself to buy any books right now, but I can pledge a dollar or two a month to his Patreon and I’ll go do that now.

      1. I already own every physical book he ever produced, and I don’t do Patreon (or any other online money-shuffling, for that matter). Less than a month before I finally give up and delete my bookmarks and that’s the end of ever visiting this site again.

        1. I’ll never delete the bookmark. If nothing else, I’ll go back to the beginning and start reading all over again.

        2. I own all the physical books, some in multiple formats. I even have the Champions RPG supplement. Three days to the end.

  28. It’s been 84 years…

  29. I think we should have a posting party on Anniversary Day, 11/28/2023!

  30. I have checked this page every single day since November 28th of last year. *sigh*

    1. Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger.

    2. I gave up on every day, but probably still every other day.

    3. I’m giving till the one year mark before I delete my bookmarks and try to forget this comic ever existed. Less than a month to go now and I see no reason to be hopeful about it any more.

To think I used to subscribe to it when it was still physical. At least Nodwick got an actual conclusion instead of this sad eternal hiatus.

  31. So how does “Krakaboooommmm” sound like a blender full of marbles? Inquiring minds are inquiring.

    1. It doesn’t the blender full of marbles was the machine going through whatever was under the floor, the “Krakaboooommmm” was the sound of breaking through the floor. Two different media, two different sounds.

  32. It’s been almost a year. Is the series over?

    1. Three days to go before I give up on the series. C’mon Aaron! I’ve bought all the graphic novels, I check the site every day, Just give me a page and I’ll stick around for another year.

      1. greetings fellow ps238 fan. at least it’ll end midstory and not like wordgirl did(season ender had her crying alone on roof and then animation studio bankruptcy meant series ended that way)

        1. Ending in mid-story is not a Good Thing in my book. One more day now and the bookmark’s getting deleted.

  33. My Cartonist! My Cartoonist! Why have you forsaken Us?

  34. That’s it. It’s been officially OVER a YEAR. I’m sorry to have to say this, but I think we’re done.

    1. If I may quote one of my favorite movies – “Never give up. Never Surrender!”

      1. It’s not our decision to give up or surrender. We have nothing to do here but wait, and watch. I don’t know how much longer we’re supposed to wait. I’m not killing the bookmark, but I’m losing hope.

        1. There is nobody to surrender to, but we can still give up checking for an update.

  35. Still love ya Aaron, Merry Christmas!

  36. Well Happy New Year everybody!

  37. For those keeping score it has been a month since FFN has updated, anyone know how to get a welfare check on Aaron?

    1. Well, just did a search, and he made a post on Xitter on the 17th about failing computers, cars, and pipes. So hopefully he’ll be back to at least one strip soon.

      1. I can’t help but pronounce that as “shitter” because of years of pronouncing “x” as either “z” or more often “sh”, and it comes out as either “shitter” or the same with a French accent.

        1. Same. One of the reasons I write it that way.

  38. I can accept this comic is dead….I’d really like confirmation on it though 🙁

    1. Yeah, I think its time to stop with my monthly disappointment check. 🙁

  39. But what if, one of these days, Aaron posts a new page and no one is around to see it? That would seriously bum him out.

    1. Then he may be disappointed, and bummed out.

  40. Guys. Truth is, I’m TRYING to read Full Frontal Nerdity, but it’s just not moving me the way PS-238 or Nodwick did. I am very sad for what we have lost.

  41. I’m re-reading the “pizza party” sub plot and I’m rather sad to know it’s going to lead to this dead end.

  42. I reread the whole series. It’s still brilliant. Here’s hoping we get an ending to the series one day

    1. “84 and the Ones Before” is one of my favorite stories ever and I go back and reread it all the time.

  43. I’m really trying to like “Full Frontal Nerdity,” the gamers in the haunted house thing was cool. But I miss my school.

  44. Still coming here two years later, represent!

  45. Arrived on December 17th and found that the background has changed. Are updates coming? Do I dare hope?

    1. I doubt it considering it’s been two years with no news at all and any questions asked on Patreon* about updates to PS238, Use Sword on Monster (also two years of no updates), or even the erratic and faulty update schedule to Full Frontal Nerditry (which is updating regularly and timely on his Patreon) are are simply erased.
